after opening gifts (hardly needed), and eating my fair share of buche de noel, i sat back, as many of us often do, to feel guilty about all that i had. what had i done to deserve all of this excess?
a friend recently wrote to tell me of an amazing undertaking by the women of northern uganda, southern sudan, and eastern congo...
starting
we spend a large majority of our time searching.
designers, artists, illustrators, writers, chefs, intellectuals-no matter who or what we are, our inescapable reality is in front of a book or screen. driven by curiosity, we search and search, and hopefully find.
this is my first blog, and perhaps i'm writing only for myself. maybe i'll spend day after day writing and editing and modifying, only to drive myself crazier.
hopefully though, this will provide a database, things i found, things i'm introduced to by friends or fellow bloggers, or the world i see each day.
as i am inspired by what i have found, perhaps someone else will be inspired by what they found.

nearly dusk, late october. we headed out wrapped in fleece and wool against the mild autumn chill. we started on pavement, then trekked through birch and maple, through moss and twigs and harder ground. the isolated beach was bathed in my favorite kind of evening light.
inexplicable this time of year is the light. early morning and late afternoon provide rays of filtered, weakend sunlight. watered down...
